Sponsor-A-Child

We meet amazing children in need all of the time. Families that benefit from what POP has been able to provide, share their stories with others in need. We get requests for treatment, wheelchairs, medication and other supplies. Each story makes us realize how fortunate we all are, and how much access we in the U.S. have to high quality medical care. As a result, we’ve established a sponsorship program. In some instances we sponsor patients that are too complex to be treated in the DR & bring them to the US for treatment; patients like Layla Nolasco: a patient with severe juvenile rheumatoid arthritis who will require 6 joint replacement surgeries! She is being treated at Mercy Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Layla is walking independently for the first time in 15 years!

August 2023: After four joint replacements Layla is learning to use her legs once again after 15 years in a wheelchair. Her physical therapy has been going very well and she is now learning to become more and more independent. Layla’s strength and determination is truly inspiring.
