Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral palsy is a complex neurological disorder that affects movement, posture, and muscle coordination. It is caused by brain damage that occurs during pregnancy, childbirth, or early childhood. Early intervention plays a pivotal role in the lives of individuals with cerebral palsy. Therapies, treatments, and supportive care can make a significant difference in maximizing potential and enhancing quality of life. Our missions are the heartbeats of our cause. With unwavering dedication, we gather a team of skilled professionals, volunteers, and supporters to empower the lives of children with cerebral palsy in the Dominican Republic. By donating today, you can help turn compassion into action, and empathy into lasting change.

Via our team and the support of compassionate volunteers, Emely embarked on a path to healing. On December 20th, 2021 – Emely rolled over independently, a testament to her resilience and determination.

Meet Emely

Emely Tejada, an eight-year-old girl from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, has faced incredible challenges since birth. Born to parents with addictions , the effects of drug exposure took a toll on her young body, resulting in cerebral palsy and other complications that hindered her development. In July 2021, Emely's story reached us from Puerto Plata through dedicated volunteers. We witnessed her struggle with head control, an inability to sit or move independently, contracted limbs, and her inability to speak. Motivated by her potential for transformation, we set forth on a mission to rewrite her story. After extensive PT and most recently, multiple tendon lengthenings, Emely has good head control, much better trunk control, is fully verbal and her contractures have nearly resolved.

Emely's journey is a glimpse into the miracles that unfold through our work. Join us in making a difference – your support fuels our mission to provide medical care, therapy, and hope to children like Emely. Donate Today!
